As per legend Maa Balasundari ji had appeared in the year 1573 at Village Trilokpur in District Sirmaur in a bag of salt brought from Devban ( UP) by a local shopkeeper Sh. Ram Dass in the form of “PINDI”. The said shopkeeper kept on selling salt from the bag through out the day but the commodity did not exhaust and the bag remained filled as if nothing had been taken out there from . He was taken aback from the miracle and while in asleep in the night Goddess appeared in his dream narrated the incidence of her disappearance from Devban(U.P.) and directed to construct a Temple to establish her PINDI swaroop ,which was already existing inside the bag of salt and also directed to worship in the name of “MAHAMAYA BALASUNDARI” – an infant state of Goddess “VAISHNO DEVI” .
किवदंती के अनुसार मां बालासुंदरी जी वर्ष 1573 में सिरमौर जिले के त्रिलोकपुर गांव में एक स्थानीय दुकानदार श्री रामदास द्वारा देवबन (उत्तर प्रदेश) से लाए गए नमक के एक थैले में “पिंडी” के रूप में प्रकट हुई थीं। उक्त दुकानदार दिन भर थैले में नमक बेचता रहा लेकिन नमक खत्म नहीं हुआ और थैला भरा रहा जैसे उसमें से कुछ निकाला ही न गया हो। वह चमत्कार से अचंभित रह गया और रात को सोते समय देवी ने उसके सपने में दर्शन दिए और देवबन (उत्तर प्रदेश) से अपने लुप्त होने की घटना सुनाई और नमक की थैली के अंदर पहले से मौजूद अपने पिंडी स्वरूप को स्थापित करने के लिए एक मंदिर बनाने का निर्देश दिया और साथ ही “महामाया बालासुंदरी” – देवी “वैष्णो देवी” के शिशु रूप के नाम से पूजा करने का निर्देश दिया।
A significant fair is organized at Trilokpur twice a year, during the months of Chaitra and Ashvina, from Sudi Ashtami to Chaudas (the 8th to the 14th of the bright fortnight). Consistent visits are made by devotees throughout this period, with massive crowds gathering especially on Ashtami and Chaudas, the opening and closing days of the fair. The Chaitra mela sees a higher turnout compared to the one in Ashvina. During these events, numerous devotees pay homage to Mata Bala Sundri, who is revered as the Kul Devi by various communities such as Kshatriyas, Brahmanas, Baniyas, Jats, and Kambojs in Haryana.
